When I first watched the videos from this morning, I thought this was a daddy feeding a little one. But the female is eating before the male comes over. Showed it to Pam and we agreed we're going to just believe they're kissing! Enjoy!

Got a large bush next to one of our pecan trees where this family lives. It's about 20 feet from the back porch. We've really enjoyed watching these guys scrounging and caring for the young ones so I had to get some closeups. Mom & dad didn't like it. They sat on a limb nervously protesting me getting so close. After I set the camera up, they immediately investigated by sitting and examining it until they were sure it was safe. Hope you enjoy watching this as much as we did getting it!

I've done a pretty good job of keeping the feeders away from the squirrels. This one got around my  traps. 

Decided To Film Some Ground Feeding. Finally Got That Towhee!

Been trying to get this Towhee filmed for about a month now. Father in law has a male and female that have hung around his house for a few years. They have a beautiful song and we've really enjoyed having them around. 

Male & Female Cardinal. We have 3 pairs, maybe four that hang around. Usually get a couple of babies also.

Morning Dove. You should hear them at daylight. Nice sound.

Eastern Blue Bird

• Size & Shape

  The Eastern Bluebird is a small thrush with a big, rounded head, large eye, plump body, and alert posture. The wings are long, but the tail and legs are fairly short. The bill is short and straight.

• Color Pattern

  Male Eastern Bluebirds are vivid, deep blue above and rusty or brick-red on the throat and breast. Blue in birds always depends on the light, and males often look plain gray-brown from a distance. Females are grayish above with bluish wings and tail, and a subdued orange-brown breast.

• Behavior

  Eastern Bluebirds perch erect on wires, posts, and low branches in open country, scanning the ground for prey. They feed by dropping to the ground onto insects or, in fall and winter, by perching on fruiting trees to gulp down berries. Bluebirds commonly use nest boxes as well as old woodpecker holes.

• Habitat

  Eastern Bluebirds live in meadows and openings surrounded by trees that offer suitable nest holes. With the proliferation of nest boxes and bluebird trails, bluebirds are now a common sight along roads, field edges, golf courses, and other open areas.

Blue Jay & Tufted Titmouse From This Morning

This common, large songbird is familiar to many people, with its perky crest; blue, white, and black plumage; and noisy calls. Blue Jays are known for their intelligence and complex social systems with tight family bonds. Their fondness for acorns is credited with helping spread oak trees after the last glacial period.

A little gray bird with an echoing voice, the Tufted Titmouse is common in eastern deciduous forests and a frequent visitor to feeders. The large black eyes, small, round bill, and brushy crest gives these birds a quiet but eager expression that matches the way they flit through canopies, hang from twig-ends, and drop in to bird feeders. When a titmouse finds a large seed, you’ll see it carry the prize to a perch and crack it with sharp whacks of its stout bill.

The House Finch is a recent introduction from western into eastern North America (and Hawaii), but it has received a warmer reception than other arrivals like the European Starling and House Sparrow. That’s partly due to the cheerful red head and breast of males, and to the bird’s long, twittering song, which can now be heard in most of the neighborhoods of the continent. If you haven’t seen one recently, chances are you can find one at the next bird feeder you come across.

BLACK-CAPED CHICKADEE!

A bird almost universally considered “cute” thanks to its oversized round head, tiny body, and curiosity about everything, including humans. The chickadee’s black cap and bib; white cheeks; gray back, wings, and tail; and whitish underside with buffy sides are distinctive. Its habit of investigating people and everything else in its home territory, and quickness to discover bird feeders, make it one of the first birds most people learn.
